Melbourne Graffiti Walk Hosier Lane and Hardware Lane | Engagement Shoot with Quila and Dave

Weddings & Couples

Quila and Dave

I’ve been so eager to share these two lovebirds with you here. Seriously the sweetest people ever!

I had so much fun shooting their engagement session in the city of Melbourne.
They wanted a natural session, within the city, with some garden shots and also some of the graffiti alleyways.

Melbourne’s Hosier Lane it is!!

I met Quila and Dave at Movida for a quick glass of wine before the shoot. Already starting strong :P
It was so lovely to finally meet them after a flow of emails and getting to learn about how they met and how they interacted before pulling out my camera.

I asked Quila to tell me the story of how Dave popped the question!

“Dave has been a huge Richmond supporter since he was a teenager, so naturally- when I moved here, I became one too.

In the lead up to the Grand Final, he was SO grumpy about not being able to get tickets to the game. I had arranged a day at a bar with some of our friends and I thought he was being SO ungrateful.

Anyway, we ended up going to The Royal Saxon with our friends in the morning and at about 11, Dave taps me on the shoulder and asks me to come outside to the porch area with my phone.

I thought he wanted to get a few pictures of us as we were decked out in Richmond colours (as you do)…. but then he starts talking about how today is going to be the best day of our lives and how special it is that we get to be together today…

I thought he was still talking about the footy!!

Anyway, he goes into all this lovey talk about our lives together and … popped the question!!

I seriously thought he was talking about Richmond the entire time and he caught me so off guard!!! Obviously, I said yes and we celebrated the engagement and WIN with our buddies inside.

The ring is special because he (by chance) met with a South African jeweller who knew my grandpa back in South Africa. It just meant something special to know that the jeweller knew my family, especially because my grandpa and I were extremely close and he passed away right before I moved here.”

So so so thoughtful and cute!

Quila, Dave and I had discussed an inner city shoot – you know some laneways and some garden shots..

Whilst the sun was still high in the sky, we decided we would head over to the gardens first as it was nicer over there.

The shoot was very relaxed and we chatted as we moved through what I knew was going to be some amazing shots.

Once the sun was a little softer we made our way back to Hardware Lane- famous for it graffiti and street art.

Quila wanted their engagement shoot to reflect Melbourne.
What better way than this lovely lane?

I always love working here, the candid shots of others in the background.. some stopping to take their own photos just amuses me.

The vibe of Melbourne is so accurately depicted in the shots which I just couldn’t help but laugh!

Thanks guys for all the giggles!!
I am so thrilled for your recent announcement of your pregnancy and I just can’t wait to work with you again at your wedding next year..

Only great things in store for you two this year and into 2019..
